Five Injured as HDBRTS Bus Crashes Into Mixed Traffic Lane and Shop
Hubli EXPRESS News: A Dharwad-bound BRTS bus veered out of its dedicated corridor and entered the adjacent mixed traffic lane, causing multiple collisions near Bhairidevarkoppa on Sunday evening. The bus hit barricades, a pole, and a roadside shop, injuring five people.
According to the police, the driver, Shivanand Vaddar, was operating the BRTS bus with the front door open, which reportedly caused the steering mechanism to lock. As the bus cruised towards Dharwad, the driver lost control. The bus first broke through the corridor’s barricades, then collided with a two-wheeler and a pole, before crashing into a shop on the roadside, where it finally came to a halt.
Initial reports indicate that five people sustained injuries in the incident, including two motorcyclists, the bus driver, and two bystanders. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The North Traffic Police quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation. A police constable stated that further details regarding the extent of the injuries and damages would become clear following a detailed investigation.
